On this occasion I will explain about the history of the name of Jakarta. In the 6^th century there was a city named kalapa. This city have a kingdom of hindu named sunda and its capital is padjadjaran. The origin of this city controlled by Portuguese but then they were attacked by a youngster named Fatahilah. Since that time, precisely on July 22^th, 1527 the city name was changed become Jayakarta from its original name,SundaKalapa.

In the 20^th century the name of Jayakarta was changed become Batavia. At that time there was happened Dutch colonial. The natural condition of Batavia is swampy. That condition was similar with the Dutch’s homeland. Again in during Japanese occupation (1942-1945), the name of Batavia was changed become Jakarta. In August 17^th 1945 Jakarta was selected to proclaimed the independence of Indonesia by Ir. Soekarno with flying red-white flag. Indonesia's sovereignty was officially recognized in 1949. In 1966 the official name of Jakarta has used as the capital gain Republic of Indonesia
